Oops, I'm Pregnant Again!

A SAHM's take on pregnancy, babies, beauty, and life as a baby making machine.

Review: BabyBug Creations, LLC

My first review of 2011 is one I am very excited about! I was lucky enough to win the item of my choice during a Facebook flash giveaway awhile back from BabyBug Creations, LLC. I felt like a kid in a candy store as I browsed their inventory, deciding what awesome item I would select! They have SOOO many adorable  handcrafted items for both babies and mama! (Yes, I said for moms, too! Ashley makes some really cute mama bags!) BabyBug has a huge selection, and I must admit, it was not an easy choice for me at all. Just LOOK at some of Ashley’s cute designs! She makes TONS of things, from tutu outfits that would be perfect for any little princess, to soaker outfits, wet bags, Boppy covers, adorable wipe cases, aprons, key fobs, and even unique, customized nursery lettering ! And on top of all that, a little birdy told me that Ashley has been expanding her inventory lately to include “un-paper” towels, for those of us who are dedicated to eco-friendly living as well as baby leg-warmers and loads of other treasures!

Look at this tutu outfit! I would SO love to get one of these for Sophie! I love the zebra print as well as the coordinating colors in the tutu.

And check out this Ooga-Booga Skirty Soaker!I absolutely ADORE this! And let me point out that these skirties look sooo cute on baby. The skirt is full and twirly, and I know my daughter LOVES wearing hers! But we’ll get to that in a minute, after I show you more of what BabyBug has to offer!

I also love their Wet Bags! I am not 100% sure on the sizing, but I know there are several sizes listed for sale, and they come in very cute patterns. I know when the hubby realizes we actually need a BIG wet bag having 2 babies in cloth, I plan to ask Ashley for more details. Look how cute this print is! And I love this Boppy cover, too!

And if these items alone don’t have you running to check out BabyBug Creations, here are a few other items they offer… Yes, these are soaker outfits! Look how wonderfully they match! No more searching for a top that matches your super cute soakers! BabyBug has thought of it all, and offers these wonderful soaker-ensembles! My personal faves are the polka dots and the purple ooga-booga prints!

And I can’t forget the custom nursery letters! They come in a HUGE variety of colors and patterns, and would definitely brighten up any baby’s room. I love these ones! Aren’t they cheerful and fun?

So I’m sure you can all see why I had SUCH a hard time deciding which item I would choose, lol…BabyBugCreations has so many wonderful items! Ultimately, I chose a really cute skirty-soaker outfit for my daughter.(Pictured is just the soaker. The shirt is somewhere in the laundry, which is the hubby’s job right now, and I couldn’t find it haha) It is a very heavy, durable fleece, and has cute little girly skulls and hearts on it. Perfect for the Princess with an attitude! Even my husband, who pretends to be allergic to anything TOO girly or frilly, absolutely LOVES this item. I also have to say that the quality is amazing…BabyBug  definitely pays attention to detail, and this cute little soaker even passed my ultimate test. Overnight with a fitted diaper! I was a little worried that Sophie would wake up one soaking wet mess, but I am very pleased to say that wasn’t the case. There is an extra “pad” sewn into the diaper area of the soaker for absorbency, and boy, does it work!  I have to say that I am 100% satisfied with the product I received from BabyBugCreations, and I plan to shop with them in the future. They have wonderful products, stellar customer service, and everything has  unique, handcrafted touches that only a WAHM can provide.

Look at Sophie in her skirty!!

So go check them out! They can be found HERE at their online shop, as well as on Facebook . And if you shop between 1/1/2011 -1/11/2011, you can get FREE SHIPPING on ANY size order by using the code HAPPYNEWYEAR

Bryton Pick Review

<a style=”display: none;” href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=TOPa378383b89e6719e15cd1aa45478627c”></a&gt;

I was recently sent a product called the Bryton Pick to review. I must admit, when  it arrived, I was a little scared to put this in my mouth, let alone allow my 10 year old to try and use it. It is basically a tool used as an alternative to flossing, convenient for those who are constantly on the go. Here is some product info taken from their website:

Bryton Pick makes cleaning between teeth easy, fast and discreet
Designed, developed and tested by dental professionals.
Solution for on-the-go or alternative for those that are unable to floss
Made of flexible stainless steel and plastic holder
Blunt cleaning edges are thin as the finest floss (0.0019″)
Re-usable up to 30 days (germ-resistant stainless steel).
Cleanse with napkin or water. Store in its carry-pouch.
Bryton Pick is 100% produced in USA at FDA registered facilities (QS-9000 / ISO9001 Certified)
I can see where this may be a good tool for those who may not have time to brush and floss after every meal….But while it is convenient in that sense, and very portable, I will say, I was not overly impressed with this product. It is made of very thin stainless steel, and looks like an emery board for teeth. Just the idea of sticking metal between my teeth made me cringe. It just sounded a little bit hazardous. Well, I tried it out anyway, and gave the spare to Kyle to try. We BOTH ended up cutting both our gums and our tongues with the Bryton Pick. (Even AFTER viewing an instructional video on how to properly use this.) It is very awkward to use, and the stainless steel is a lot sharper than it appears to be. If you are brave enough to take your time and s-l-o-w-l-y learn how to maneuver this tool, then maybe it would be beneficial to you. I DO see where it can be a great tool for after eating out, or for those who frequently eat on the go. I just feel that maybe a little more care in the overall design of this product should have been taken before putting it on the shelves. It may be good for some people, but it caused me to have a bloody mouth after using it, and I was careful!
Overall, like I said, not impressed. I would not give up my regular floss in favor of this product. Heck, a regular flosser is much less hazardous in my opinion. I wish I could have given this product a more favorable review, but I just can’t. Maybe you would have better luck with this gadget. If you’re interested in trying it out, the Bryton Pick is available at many retailers, including CVS, as well as on their website. I feel just awful giving such a bad review, but I owe it to my readers to give my honest opinion.

<a href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=BOTTOMa378383b89e6719e15cd1aa45478627c”>This Product Was a Free Giveaway</a>

My Favorite Things Thursday~Dimple Buns Diapers!

As many of you know, we recently made the decision to switch to cloth diapering. With Sophie in diapers, and Xander due in January, it was really a no-brainer decision! It will save us a TON of money over disposables for 2 babies, and it is much better for the environment. Plus, I am a firm believer that cloth diapers are comfier for baby. I mean, would you rather have your butt covered in something soft and plush, or in scratchy, chemical-laden paper?

So while the decision to make the switch to CD’s was inevitable, I found it very intimidating initially. There are SO many different styles and types to choose from! There are fitteds and pockets, AIO’s and AI2’s, OS dipes, prefolds and covers….It was literally enough to make me go nuts from confusion! Which types were the best, and which would be best for my babies?  So I decided I was on a mission to find out as much as I could about cloth-diapering, and I was determined to find dipes that are not only affordable and cute, but highly functional and would last while my babies are in diapers.

I am all for WAHM businesses. Not that I have a problem with big name brands, of course. I just tend to think that items that are handmade with love by women who actually USE  and have extensive knowledge of the products they make generally tend to not only have more character, but tend to also be of much higher quality than those that are mass-produced in a factory somewhere in China.

While I was scouring the web looking for cute diapers to try, I came across Dimple Buns diapers! These are so cute, and there is a HUGE variety of products on this site. The diapers are made by a very nice and helpful woman named Krystal. She was amazing to deal with. I explained my situation, and how we’re basically CD virgins, and she was kind and helpful enough to take the time out of her busy day to answer all questions I had regarding cloth-diapering,(and trust me, I had a ton!)  as well as offer many tips and tricks I may not have thought of before. She really took a lot of time to reply to me, and was very thorough in the information she gave me. And she was just a sweetheart!

I was very impressed by the look of the diapers she has made. She has many styles and sizes, mostly fitteds and AIOs. These are all absolutely gorgeous, and she uses the best materials, like suedecloth and hemp on some diapers! The designs and colorful prints are just so unique and full of personality, as well. She has a NB dipe that is blue flames that I have my eye on for Xander, and a very cute purple leopard print diaper I would love to buy for Sophie! Just LOOK at how adorable these are!

Can’t you just picture my little Xander rocking this diaper?! I LOVE it!  And look at this one:

This is just a small sample of Krystal’s work! She has TONS more styles, and has even partnered with another company to offer some pretty awesome diaper covers and other amazing products. I decided to order one of Krystal’s fitted diapers in medium, which is gender neutral and absolutely adorable with cute little turtles and multi-colored polka dots on a light blue background, as well as a Wallypop Fleecy Wrap cover in Raspberry Furry. These covers are VERY generously sized and adjustable, and will fit Sophie for quite some time! And it is SOOOO soft. Although the color is stated as raspberry, it is more of a red than pinky. Therefore making it beautifully unisex. Here are some stock photos of the fitted diaper  I purchased  taken from http://dimplebunsdiapers.com

Let me tell you, I was in love with this diaper as soon as it arrived! It was very well constructed, with no loose threads or anything, and it was soooo unbelievably soft to the skin. It was also extremely plush. I just knew it would be like sitting on a cloud to my princess. SO much more comfy than the disposables she has been used to since her birth. I couldn’t wait to put Sophie in it and see how well it held up to her heavy wetting tendencies. I was also eager to see how well it fit on her very fat little legs. Even disposables have been known to leave uncomfortable looking redness on her chunky little thighs. I was worried that I should have purchased a large, but Krystal assured me that a medium should be just fine at her weight, despite the thunder-thighs. She was absolutely right! The diaper fit beautifully, and didn’t cut into Sophie’s skin at all. It is also somewhat size adjustable due to the snaps at the waistband area. She actually should have a little room to grow and use this dipe before I have to stash it away for Xander when he is big enough. Krystal recommended that with a fitted diaper, I should use a cover. Well, I did buy and use the cover, but before I put the cover over this adorable diaper, I let Sophie crawl around in it for about 3 hours, just to test its absorbency. I was quite impressed! When I went to change her, she had definitely peed quite a bit, but the outside of this diaper was not at all damp. Let’s just say I was sold, haha. Here are some photos of Sophie proudly playing in her Dimple Buns diaper!

I did elect to try the cover out as well, after a quick wash of the fitted. i figured I would try the fitted + cover combo for overnight. I honestly think the fitted diaper would have been fine on its own, as it was highly absorbent, but I decided to go ahead and try both together. Sophie is a good sleeper. She usually sleeps a good 8-10 hours at night. When she woke up the next morning, I was surprised to see that while she definitely peed a lot, both the outside of the fitted and the cover were absolutely, 100% dry! No leaks here! So while I am sure the cover adds extra protection, when I pair it with the Dimple Buns fitted diaper, it has been more for looks, lol…Maybe I will try it with other fitteds once I buy some and see if it holds in leaks, but Krystal’s diapers are so well made that there have been no leaks to contain yet. So I do use the cover, but it’s because I love the look of it. There is nothing cuter than Sophie crawling around with a furry butt!

I am so glad I decided to give Dimple Buns a try! Not only are they excellent, lovingly handmade diapers, they are truly very high quality. And the customer service you will receive from Krystal is top-notch! She was a pleasure to deal with, and I look forward to buying more of her diapers, just as soon as the hubby will let me. (hint, hint to family and friends…These would make wonderful baby gifts for Xander!)

Her prices are also very affordable. Most fitteds range from 10-12 dollars a piece, depending on size, and the AIO’s range from 12.00-15.50, again depending on size and options. The covers are equally affordable, as well.  For something so well-made, I think the pricing is a steal!

Also, for the month of October, Dimple Buns Diapers has the following sale going on to save you even more!

OCTOBER IS 10% OFF SALE ALL MONTH LONG

SMARTKnit Kids Seamless Sensitivity Socks Review & GIVEAWAY!

****CLOSED. The Winner chosen by Random.org, Mary, has been e-mailed. You have 48 hours to respond or I will have to choose another winner!****

<a style=”display: none;” href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=TOP995693c15f439e3d189b06e89d145dd5″></a>

I was so excited to be selected to review SMARTKnits Seamless Sensitivity Socks for Kids! My Sophie-Monster HATES having her feet covered for any reason, and with the colder months approaching, I have been worried about being able to find socks that she could be comfortable in and wouldn’t yank off the second we put them on her.

These socks are very different from most children’s socks. They are completely and totally seamless, which prevents bunching and keeps those nasty sock lumps from forming. They are also made of a unique blend of Corespun and Lycra yarns, which are very form-fitting and hug little feet just perfectly!

There is also a very cool feature that I have personally never seen in a kid’s sock before. The SMARTKnit Seamless Sensitivity Sock has a NO HEEL design, that allows kids to easily pull their own socks on without having the heel end up in the total wrong place, causing discomfort and even some oh-so-dreaded blisters! When I first heard of the no heel design, a friend and fellow Mommy-Blogger and I were a little confused…Was there a hole cut out where the heel should have been? I know, that would have been completely ridiculous, and thankfully, this is not at all the case. The sock has a very streamlined, tube-like appearance, unlike the appearance of your standard heeled sock design. This does NOT affect the fit or functionality of the sock in a negative way at all. If anything, the heel-free design coupled with their smart-knit technology makes for a much snugger, better fitting sock!

A couple of other features worth noting are the moisture-wicking fibers these socks are made with,(NO MORE STINKY FEET!) and their non-binding Halo-Tops. Most socks have tight elastic bands at the tops, that can definitely cause pinching and irritation. Especially on chubby little baby legs like Sophie’s,lol…The girl has some tree trunks for legs!  The unique Halo-Top design holds the sock in place without slipping, and definitely seems to be more comfy, even for sock haters like my daughter!

Another thing to mention is that these socks come in many different colors and sizes. I received 2 pairs, both size small, in pink and purple. (What can I say, Sophie is a girly-girl!) They also come in White, Black, and Navy! Something I will keep in mind for when Xander is born. I am sure he won’t appreciate wearing his big sis’s girly socks!  They also come in ankle style, crew, and knee highs! Here is their convenient sizing chart for easy reference:

So, what is my opinion of SMARTKnit Kids Seamless Sensitivity Socks? I have to admit, at first, Sophie was NOT having it, and she tugged them off repeatedly. This was HER, though, and not the product. Now after a few days of getting used to them, she is just fine with wearing them, and hasn’t fussed a bit. I tried to see if she would all of the sudden tolerate her regular socks, and SURPRISE: She HATED them. So obviously, the design of these socks really does make a difference in comfort for my little Diva! She is crawling around happily wearing the purple ones as we speak!

So YES, I would recommend these socks to anyone with kids. They even carry adult sizes! At 6.95/pair, the cost seems a bit intimidating, but they truly are worth every penny. Especially considering the durability and quality contruction and materials that go into making these socks. And in case you’ve forgotten, the heel-free design allows these socks to grow with your child to a degree, which means they will last longer than your typical sock.

Don’t believe me? Here is your chance to win not 1, not 2, but 3 pairs of SMARTKnit Seamless socks of your own! Yep, you heard me right! The nice folks at SMARTKnit are so confident that you will absolutely love the revolutionary design of their product that they are giving me the opportunity to giveaway 3 PAIRS to one lucky winner!

My Favorite Things Thursdays: Diapers.com Premium Baby Diapers Review

For my first Favorite Things Thursday post, I am featuring Diapers.com. Or more specifically, their site-branded Diapers.com Premium Baby Diapers. Now I am fully aware that I may be totally asking for it from all the cloth-diapering moms out there, as these are in fact disposable diapers. Dan and I have not yet made the switch to cloth, since we literally have absolutely no understanding of all the different styles and types of diapers, and what fits who, how, where, etc…I don’t know the difference between a pocket and a fitted, or what an AIO or AI2 is, and how they differ from eachother. I have no idea how to put them on or launder them, and what special instructions there are for doing so. This IS something we want to learn, as with another baby on the way, we feel it would be a very smart and economical move to switch from disposable to cloth. But until I really understand it and figure out what type(s) will work best for us, I just cannot afford to make such a huge initial investment right now. I have been trying like hell to win sample cloth diapers on other blogs, but haven’t gotten so lucky just yet. And as far as I know, there is no cloth diaper fairy just showering people with diapers, lol…

So for the time being, we are still using disposables. I ALWAYS order mine by the case from Diapers.com. Not only are their prices more than reasonable, you get a much larger quantity of diapers per box than at any grocery or mass-retailer, like WalMart or Target. And if you spend 49.99 with them, you qualify for FREE shipping. And let me tell you, ladies, the shipping is FAST. I usually buy a case of Luvs, since I will not touch Pampers since the new Dry Max technology came out, and I have never had a good experience with Huggies. (Although I admit, the last time I tried them was 10 years ago when Kyle was an infant.) A case of 200+ size 3 Luvs sells for around 37.00. To get the free shipping, I usually shop their HUGE sale and clearance section, and get great deals on clothing, toys, bath products, diaper creams, etc… I have never had delivery take more than 2-3 days. Sometimes, I even receive my diapers the next day!

Their products always come very well packaged, and always in their distinctive Diapers.com heavy duty boxes.

The last time I ordered, I decided to be ballsy and switch things up a bit. I noticed that the Diapers.com brand diapers had adorable monkey designs on them, and while I generally shy away from off-brand diapers due to past experiences with leaks and downright explosions, I just HAD to give them a shot. I got a HUGE case of 200 size 3 diapers for around 42 dollars or so. So they are a little more expensive than the Luvs, but I was willing to pay that for the cutesy monkeys!  They really are adorable, and I have a thing for anything monkey, lol. The diapers came with 2 different designs. One has more purple and has a monkey, both on the front AND the back, and the other style is similar, but has green stripes on it as well.

These diapers are not only cute, they contain no harsh perfumes. They are also very soft, compared to many other diapers. I would compare their softness to that of Pampers Swaddlers for newborns, but without the inner layer of mesh. These diapers are also fitted, and have velcro closure that is very stretchy for a generous fit, and none of those annoying sticky tabs. The elastic in the leg/thigh area is also very well constructed, and I haven’t had a single leak yet, not even overnight when Sophie tends to be a heavy wetter. Heck, these diapers have even held up to major tsunami-like poop explosions! I have NEVER had a store-brand diaper do that before!

I would like to address another factor that moms worry about when switching diapers. Rashes. Sometimes a change in brand can cause an adverse reaction and baby’s delicate skin. Whether it be from chemicals, dyes, perfumes, or even just an ill-fitting, poorly constructed diaper, this is an issue that we, as parents, must consider. There is nothing worse than having a sore and broken out baby! Well, rest assured, Sophie has never had a rash with these diapers, and I have been using them for over a month now. And I only apply her butt-cream when necessary, such as before bedtime, just as a preventative measure.

Overall, I am very pleased with these diapers. The only complaint I have, and it’s not even a complaint, more an observation, is that these diapers tend to run large. Luckily, I read many customer reviews before ordering on Diapers.com and compensated accordingly when making my initial purchase.

So if you’re looking for a relaible diaper, or just want to switch it up again, especially if you’re a monkey fanatic like me, I would highly reccommend these diapers. Yes, they are technically off-brand, but they are every bit as good as your more expensive, premium name brand diapers.

So until I finally switch to cloth, which is inevitable, I will continue using Diapers.com Premium Baby Diapers!

Go over to Diapers.com and check them out today!

AdorableBabyClothing.com Review!

For The Munchkins-All About The Kids Reviews and Rants

Adorable Baby Clothing.com Review

Well, as you all know, I enter a lot of sweeps and contests to make things at least somewhat interesting while on modified bedrest. In July, I entered Sophie in their Adorable Baby Photo Contest. Much to my surprise, SHE WON! Okay, well she actually tied another little girl for winner. But the other girl was absolutely gorgeous, and I was proud that my little princess could even hold her own against this other child! As a prize, Sophie is featured in the winner’s page, and I also received a gift certificate to use on their site. They have SOOO much to choose from!  They have dress-up costumes in all kid’s sizes, regular everyday clothing, uber-cute boutiqe type clothing, and even toys and shower gifts!

I finally settled on their Precious Pink Wabbit Baby Bunny Costume

As you can see, Sophie just LOVES it! It even comes with the cute plush carrot rattle to complete the look! The costume itself is SUPER high quality. It is very soft and comfortable for baby to wear, and it even has snaps up the legs to facilitate easy diaper changes! I cannot wait for Halloween so I can show Sophie off in her bunny costume! And for 32.00, this is a steal! MUCH better quality than you will find at your local WalMart or Halloween store!

I must also say that customer service at AdorableBabyClothing.com is fantastic. There was a bit of confusion regarding my order, and Cynthia at AdorableBabyClothing.com called me personally to clear it up. She was very helpful, very friendly, and I really enjoyed chatting with her! It was very refreshing to deal with a company that is dedicated to providing top quality products and excellent customer service!

I would definitely recommend AdorableBabyClothing.com if you have a special occasion you need to dress your little one for…. Or if you have a Baby Shower to attend…Or if you want some really neat baby toys….Or if you need formal attire for your little ones. So go take a look around! I am glad to have found this online store, and plan to shop with them again! Oh, and not to mention, shipping was lightning fast! I had her costume within 48 hours of placing my order!
